Buy the Rapsodo MLM2Pro if you want real measured spin data without spending over $1,000 โ it's a dual-camera+radar system that delivers club path, face angle, and video shot tracer at around $699 (check current price). Buy the SkyTrak+ if you're building a dedicated sim room and need the broader software ecosystem (FSX Play, TGC, WGT, E6) with higher photometric accuracy โ around $1,995 (check current price). Note: the SkyTrak+ has been discontinued and replaced by the SkyTrak ST MAX, so check availability before buying. The price gap here is significant โ roughly $2,300 โ and that shapes every decision below.

Accuracy & Technology
These two units use fundamentally different technology, and that matters for understanding what you're buying.
The Rapsodo MLM2Pro pairs dual cameras with radar. The cameras capture the ball and club at impact; the radar tracks ball flight. Spin is measured โ but it requires Rapsodo's RPT (Radar Precision Technology) marked balls to get accurate spin readings. Using unmarked balls will result in estimated spin. The upside: radar tracking gives it solid outdoor range performance.
The SkyTrak+ is a pure photometric system โ high-speed cameras photograph the ball in the first few inches after impact and derive all data from those images. Spin is measured directly from ball markings at impact, no special balls required. Photometric units are well-regarded for indoor accuracy because they don't need to track ball flight through a net.
Neither unit has been independently tested head-to-head on this site. The accuracy assessments above reflect published specifications, manufacturer claims, and the established reputation of each technology type in the launch monitor community.
Indoor & Simulator Use
Both units can work indoors, but they have different requirements.
The Rapsodo MLM2Pro needs adequate, consistent lighting to get clean camera reads. The dual-camera system can struggle in dim or uneven light โ something to plan for if you're setting up in a basement or garage. Once lighting is sorted, it performs reliably indoors and the radar component handles ball tracking.
The SkyTrak+ is a natural indoor fit. Photometric systems capture data at impact, not during ball flight, so they work well behind a net. Build quality and design are oriented toward a permanent installation.
The bigger indoor story is simulator software. The SkyTrak+ connects to FSX Play, The Golf Club (TGC), WGT Golf, and E6 Connect โ the established major platforms for serious sim rooms. The Rapsodo connects to its own Rapsodo Golf app with 30,000+ courses (subscription required at around $199.99/yr). E6 Connect support has been reported but check current compatibility before buying.
If you're building a dedicated room and want access to TGC or WGT, the SkyTrak+ (or its successor, the ST MAX) is the stronger choice. If you're primarily doing range practice with occasional sim play, the Rapsodo's software is capable enough.
