Every launch monitor reviewed on GolfLaunchLab is tested against the same baseline using the same process. Here's exactly how we do it.
All accuracy data is cross-referenced against a TrackMan Pro unit running simultaneously at a PGA-certified teaching facility. Both units measure the same shots from optimal positioning. TrackMan is the de facto standard for professional ball flight measurement and serves as our ground truth.
Outdoor tests use a Titleist Pro V1 at a calibrated outdoor range with consistent wind conditions. Indoor tests use the same ball in a 15×20ft hitting bay. Each unit is positioned according to manufacturer specifications. We run a minimum of 100 shots per unit across multiple sessions, discarding outliers caused by mishits rather than sensor error.
Our testing team includes a 14-handicap amateur, a PGA-certified teaching professional, and an experienced home simulator enthusiast. This covers the range of use cases our readers care about.
Units are scored across six dimensions: Accuracy, Portability, App & Software, Ease of Use, Value for Money, and Indoor Performance. Each category is weighted based on relevance to the review type (e.g., portability matters more for range-focused reviews; indoor performance matters more for simulator guides). All scores are out of 10.
All units are purchased at retail or tested via personal connections. No manufacturer provides units in exchange for reviews, and no manufacturer has any input into our scores, rankings, or editorial content.
